Stealth inflation:

Have you noticed the items you buy are not being sold in smaller packages for the same price? Fun Size candy which came in packs of 8 are now sold in packs of 6 for the same retail cost. That is a sudden 25% increase in retail product cost, and it is not just candy bars. The U.S. dollar goes far less than it did a few years ago, effectively cutting your wages.

If you can't get pre-sales information, you won't get help after the sale either.

If the pre-sales agent on a phone call cannot or will not get you the information you need prior to the sale, odds are your experience with that company will only be worse after the sale. Business put their best people on the sales lines which are sometimes monitored for quality. If you are not satisfied, say it to the agent and don't be afraid to say they lost a sale as a result. Businesses want your money and you are sometimes better off not buying from a company that will not give you product information.

Made in the USA? Wal-Mart will tell you:

If you see your favorite generic pain reliever in Wal-Mart and want to know if it is made in the U.S.A., China or another country, call the phone number on the label and ask them. Wal-Mart staff in the call center will gladly look up the product details and tell you the country of origin based on the lot number. When we called we discovered they were made in the U.S.A.

Buying online is not always the best deal:

'Show-Rooming' is a retail term for products people look at in stores and then the customer buys it online, thus costing the retailer money so you can save elsewhere. Buying from the retail store can save you money in the long run because what you are buying is service. If a product has a problem and you purchase it online, returning it may cost you more in the long run.
